BHC Juniors WIN medals at Futures Cup

The Futures Cup which took place between 23rd – 26th August 2017 featured two very talented BHC juniors Martha Taylor and Nick Nurse, who were both representing the Wessex Leopards in their Under 15 categories.

Both squads started off strongly with a 3-0 win for the boys against Mercia Lynx, and an emphatic 12-0 win for the girls against the Celtic Jaguars, with Martha on the score sheet!

On day 2 the girls lost a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 to eventual winners Pennine Pumas, whereas the boys continued their winning streak to win 8-0 against Caledonian Cougars.

On finals day the girls were playing for bronze against the Saxon Tigers, whilst the boys were playing for gold against the Pennine Pumas.

First up, it was an exciting battle for bronze for Martha and her team, with both teams drawing 1-1 at the end of full-time. A penalty shoot-out decided the result with the Wessex Leopards WINNING BRONZE 3-1!

For the boys and Nick Nurse, they took home the GOLD MEDAL with a 4-2 win.

With England’s professional adult squads both securing bronze medals at the EuroHockey championships over the same weekend, both our young juniors are successfully following in their footsteps of “winning their last game.”

Well done Wessex Leopards, and extra special well done to Martha and Nick!!
